Life cycle assessment (LCA) is the most widely used approach for obtaining a complete environmental picture of products and services.

It allows the manufacturer of a product to better understand its full environmental impact from production of the raw materials through to disposal at end-of-life, including its associated greenhouse gas emissions, and any pollution of air, water or soil.

In Triple-A-COAT, life cycle assessment specialists 2.-0 LCA consultants will apply LCA to the production, use and disposal of nanocellulose, and compare the LCAs of the best performing coatings with competing products. This may identify ways in which Triple-A-COAT partners can optimize the sustainability of the coatings even further.
